Rania Zaki and Waleed Nassar - Co-founders of LoveArabic

Rania Zaki and Waleed Nassar, Co-founders of LoveArabic, at a recent LoveArabic Exchange.

LoveArabic is a social enterprise with a mission to make Arabic culture accessible to everyone in Toronto and to all Canadians! We believe that our society is facing constant attempts to create fear of people that we don't understand. We also believe that allowing people to know more about each other, especially Arabic culture, is the key to turning these challenges into opportunities to improve our society. This will make Canada a better place for everyone.

LoveArabic invites everyone to be part of this great mission. We are not just about organizing community events and selling products, LoveArabic is about bringing people together to build knowledge and empathy towards each other.

Our values and what we stand for are:

1. Love is a Game-Changer.

Everything we do, every decision, every exchange, system, product and offering must move us closer to loving, respecting and caring for each other.

2. We are Canadian.

We are proud of being part of the cultural mosaic and the coexistence of all communities in Toronto and across Canada.

3. First Nations.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work in this sacred land which is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island.

4. Language is the Roadmap of a Culture.

We love to showcase the Arabic language because we believe that Rita Mae Brown is right: "Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going".

5. We are Bridge Figures.

We believe we are cultural translators proactively connecting people across communities to make cultures understandable to each other.

 6. We Bring Down Walls.

Communities tend to silo itself either by habit or by fear. We want to always keep the door open and invite anyone to conversation and collaboration.

7. Arabic is Diverse.

Arabic culture represents many dialects, countries and religions. We know that no one can do it all. We will always look for like-minded individuals and organization to co-create with us because collaboration is in our DNA.

8. We Bring People Together.

There's no better way to build empathy and knowledge between us than by bringing people to talk, create and laugh together in a welcoming and safe place.
